Planeta Viu celebrates Earth Day with an inspection and clean-up at Collserola (Barcelona, Spain)
During the week of the celebration of Earth Day, New Acropolis Barcelona volunteers who form part of the Planeta Viu ecological volunteering group, carried out the spring inspection of the Vallvidrera river, as part of the Rivers Project.
Seventeen participants enjoyed a morning working for nature, learning the ecological importance of the measured parameters and cleaning the environment of the stream.
As a closing of the activity, volunteers committed to making ecological choices at an individual level from this day on. The proposals made were:
Reuse supermarket bags. Do not throw them away.
Consume fewer products packaged in plastic.
Consolidate the work of environmental volunteering, enrolling in a group for the protection of the natural environment.
Avoid buying unnecessarily packaged products and visit bulk product stores.
Recycle more and better.
Take care of more plants to offset our carbon footprint.
Consume only what is necessary.
Avoid wasting food.
Carry a portable ashtray.
Stop smoking.
Substitute the purchase of bottled water, carrying a bottle at all times.
Attend environmental events to promote legislation in favor of the planet.
We are sure that by maintaining these individual commitments, we will manage to improve the state of health of the Earth, which has been damaged by our abuses.
With actions and reflections such as those made on this day, we continue to spread love and respect for nature.
