We paid tribute to a distinguished Sevillian woman who, at the dawn of the Spanish Renaissance, exemplified a woman capable of managing her children’s education, her business and her patrimony. She was determined to leave behind an artistic legacy under her sponsorship and patronage, such as the Casa de Pilatos, the Palacio de las Dueñas and, above all, the Hospital de las Cinco Llagas, heir to the Hospital de las Mujeres that Catalina founded and that her son, in memory of his mother, erected.
