World Philosophy Day (Belgrade, Serbia)
Under this year’s motto of Unity through Diversity, volunteers from New Acropolis in Belgrade organized a promotional walk through the capital’s center, dressed as Chinese, Greek, Roman, and Renaissance philosophers. In this symbolic way, the volunteers called the attention of passers-by to the significance of philosophy for the growth of individuals and society, inviting them to participate in activities organized at the Belgrade seat in celebration of World Philosophy Day.
This year’s program consisted of two lectures accompanied by workshops. The lecture titled Active Tolerance offered the visitors a philosophical insight into this nowadays highly relevant concept.
The lecture continued with a workshop where the participants, divided into groups and guided by mentors, discussed the virtues we need to develop to understand diversity and build fraternity among people.
The second lecture, titled Seven Paths of Man’s Realization, introduced the visitors to various aspects of human nature. During the workshop, participants were divided into seven groups and tasked with discovering a path of man’s realization within one of the planes, starting with the lower aspects that need to be overcome to attain the higher ones.
The day concluded in a cheerful and inspiring atmosphere, where the visitors could talk and connect, united by philosophical ideas and a shared aspiration towards understanding and unity.
