International Arts Day 2024 (Ladispoli, Italy)
To celebrate International Arts Day, New Acropolis recreated the art of the ancient Etruscan ancestors in an afternoon devoted to two hands-on activities in the Campo Enea.
Antonio Amasio, director of the NAAC (Antica Caere Archaeological Unit) and passionate about reproductions of Etruscan ceramics, illustrated the techniques of their production with natural materials and colours. The participating group attempted to create the famous Etruscan sphinx in clay tablets, which were then fired by Amasio himself and given back to the ‘budding artists’ as a souvenir of the activity.
Roberto Paolini, an artisan from Cerveteri and an expert player of Etruscan art (ceramics and metallurgy), provided us with clay saucers, this time ready to use, on which each of us chose to paint, with acrylic paint, an Etruscan-themed theme.
In addition to our artistic skills, we have also experimented with the possibility that Art has to reach out to people and bring them together, each with their diversity, each willing to make their own contribution with the desire and joy of being there.
An encounter in nature, already art in itself, which entertained us and allowed us to appreciate the legacy of the Ancestors of the land we live in, rediscovering origins and traditions.
