Astronomical observation in Lisbon (Portugal)
Volunteers and friends of New Acropolis Lisbon, travelled to the Alentejo region to carry out the activity ‘Astronomical observation of the summer sky’. After an initial presentation by Professor José Carlos Fernández, director of New Acropolis Portugal, who explained some of the myths that ancient peoples related to the stars, attendees had the opportunity to observe through powerful telescopes, some of the stellar wonders shown by the summer sky. Due to the lack of light pollution, the Milky Way could be seen with total clarity, as well as dozens of shooting stars.
New Acropolis of Lisbon wishes to acknowledge the kindness of the astronomers Luis Ramos, Carlos and Rui who allowed, with their generosity, the realization of this activity.
