Lecture entitled ‘How to deal with aging and death?’ at New Acropolis Florianopolis presented by Prof. Helenice Vieira Piovezan, who presented perspectives from ancient philosophy viewing aging and death as natural cycles of life.

Contrasting the current vision of society which often glorifies youth and rejects old age, the lecturer explained that aging is an opportunity to delve inside, to recognize that the Human Being goes beyond professional and family roles. It is a time for reflection and to extract the richness from past experiences, what has been done and learned, and to review one’s true dreams and take steps in the direction of those that can still be carried out.
