The Unity Garden Project (Chicago, USA)

Artistic Activities, Cultural Volunteering

During the month of August and in the midst of a global health and social crisis, volunteers of New Acropolis invited friends and residents of their local neighborhood to participate in a philosophical art project. The Unity Garden was meant to connect philosophical quotes and ideas of Unity, through art and nature, to the diverse population of the neighborhood.

Participants were encouraged to choose a quote and use it to decorate pots and rocks that were placed in the garden where the activity was held, and will be distributed to local organizations who were affected by the crisis.

Participants painted while they got to know their neighbors and interacted in a supportive and collaborative way, and by doing so gave an example of Unity in the community.
