The experience of the New Acropolis Brazil Organization channel on Youtube demonstrates people’s interest in Philosophy: the institution reached one million subscribers in the month of August.
The conquest is the result of voluntary work obtained over 14 years with the objective of using the Internet as an instrument of education and reflection through the production of audiovisual content. Today the channel accumulates 32.3 million hours of lectures, drops, comments on works, interviews and lives that already have more than one hundred million views.
Available for free, the content brings knowledge of great civilizations and thinkers, especially as tools for people from different areas to improve their relationships with themselves and with the world.
“The presence on the internet over this time is also the result of an effort on the part of volunteers who mobilized to take advantage of all the knowledge of those who knew how to live humanely well – philosophers from different cultures and times – and to give gifts to people in a simple, experiential way and practice”, says the philosopher Lúcia Helena Galvão Maya, a volunteer teacher at New Acropolis for 33 years.
