Cultural tour ‘Discovering Belém’ integrates history, symbolism and philosophy (Brazil)
Traditional programming of the city’s anniversary, the cultural tour ‘Discovering Belém’, has been organized for 20 years by volunteers from New Acropolis with the aim of rescuing the values and culture of the city, through its history, architecture and symbols present on the perimeter of the Historic center.
In January, the capital of Pará completed 407 years. The guided tour took participants to the main monuments and most significant places in the city, such as the Church of Santo Alexandre, the Feliz Lusitânia complex, the Church of Carmo and São João Batista and the Museum of the State of Pará.
Throughout the journey, the guides explained the historical facts that originated the existing monuments and squares and the symbolism present in the architecture. The event takes place free of charge and seeks to integrate the identity of Belemenses with their history and customs.
