Donation of Philosophy Books to a Women’s Prison (Palmas, Brazil)

Cultural Volunteering

Students and volunteers from the Palmas centre of New Acropolis compiled a collection of philosophy books to donate to the women’s prison in the city of Miranorte. The initiative, which took place last February, was a welcome gift for prisoners, since it encouraged reading, education and culture.

“We believe that philosophy can help people connect with their essence and with universal values such as solidarity, respect and compassion”, said Niceia Marques, Social Assistance Coordinator of New Acropolis Palmas.

New Acropolis has carried out several acts of solidarity and social projects in different regions of the state of Tocantins, with the aim of making the timeless ideas present in philosophy more accessible.
