Philosophy! New Acropolis at the Fishing on Orfű festival (Pécs, Hungary)
This year, New Acropolis was invited to Hungary’s biggest festival with only Hungarian performers. Every day, volunteers at the school’s tent awaited people with new philosophical questions, quizzes, board games, and a reading corner.
The most popular attraction of the stand was the Wheel of Virtues where, by spinning the wheel, visitors could pick a virtue for themselves and practice it for a whole day. Many people returned to the wheel several times so that not a day should pass without a new challenge.
During the four-day festival, members of the organisation spoke to nearly 300 people. Several ideas emerged from these discussions on how the teachings of great philosophers can still help us to develop as individuals and as communities today, if we seek more effective cooperation, greater inner freedom, and responsibility for our actions.
