Arts and Crafts Week at the Cour Petral (France)
At the former Cour Petral Abbey, for the second year running, from 1 to 7 August 2024, around sixty volunteers came together to work in the trades of stone-cutting, mosaics, stained glass, frescoes, joinery and traditional masonry to create overall decorations and erect colonnaded architecture in the style of Antiquity.
Building ourselves by building is the line of work proposed, so as to unite ethics and aesthetics.
At the same time, philosophy of art classes given by Fernand Schwarz, co-founder of Nouvelle Acropole in France, focused each evening on the mode of organisation of the Egyptian craftsmen who worked in the Valley of the Kings as a theme for study during the course.
All the works produced during the week will be on display at the forthcoming Heritage Days.
