Day of Arts (London, UK)
This year, for the first time, we joined UNESCO’s initiative known as “World Art Day” with our own “Day of Arts”. This is a celebration of the arts as a universal language of expression that can transcend borders and bring people together. Our guiding theme was “Unity through Diversity”.
On Saturday 22nd June, we welcomed a large number of participants, most of whom joined the full day programme. Starting with a brief talk about culture delivered by the Director of New Acropolis UK, Sabine Leitner, the event continued with a number of short presentations and workshops on poetry, the mythological dimension in art, drama games focusing on conflict resolution, body percussion and singing, collective dancing and drawing skills. Towards the end of the day, participants had the opportunity to develop inner insight and understanding by contemplating a well-known work of art. It was definitely a special day, in which the diverse audience who attended experienced a sense of togetherness, creativity and joy. Both presenters and participants were able to share ideas and dive into philosophical conversations while enjoying coffee, delicious cakes and salads.
