International Mother Earth Day in Horní Světlá (Czech Republic)

Mother Earth Day

In April over 40 volunteers travelled to the village in southern parts of Czech Republic called Horní Světlá to celebrate International Mother Earth Day. The motto of the whole weekend was “Unity through diversity”. One group of volunteers went on to repair the old road between Horní Světlá and the village lying next to it. They also planted fruit trees along the sides of the road. The other group went on a horse farm in Leština to build shelters for the horses there, clean up stables, and found time to groom, feed and cuddle the noble steeds. In the afternoon when all work was done volunteers danced together a dance for Mother Earth. Although the weather was changing almost every hour as is typical for April, bringing winds, rain, and snow, volunteers never lost their tempter and the mood in the group stayed always sunny and warm.
