Myths to Live by Series of Free Talks and Buddhism – Suffering and Serenity (Dublin, Ireland)
Ireland has rich, vast and beautiful mythology and to celebrate this as well as opening the new academic year, we hosted a series of 3 free talks under the theme “Myths to Live By” – Inspired by the teachings of Joseph Campbell.
The 3 talks were:
- In search of the Hero within
- The Grail Quest
- The Marriage with the Goddess
Over 60 people attended the 3 talks, some of them more than one!
Mythology has always been an important and inspiring part of human history, showing us what it means to be a human being, taking our place in society, taking responsibility for each other and gives us evocative images and stories about where we may come from and what our destiny might be.
One of the key teachings in Buddhism is to understand the nature of suffering, not to remain in it and to transcend it. Buddhism like Stoicism offers a practical approach to face suffering, to learn from it and transform it so as to reach an inner state of serenity.
Thanks to all enthusiastic visitors, we look forward to welcoming you again!
