On the occasion of the 67th anniversary of the death of Gabriela Mistral (pseudonym of Lucila Godoy Alcayaga), we discover an extraordinary woman, daughter of parents of Spanish and Basque descent, born in 1889 in Chile and died in 1957 in the United States.
She was a poet, diplomat and teacher. She was the author of notable works of Latin American literature, such as ‘Tala’, ‘Desolación’ and ‘Lagar’.She also won the Nobel Prize for literature in 1945.
