We thank those who made donations, those who helped with publicity and those who worked voluntarily in the different work fronts, such as: rescue, screening, reception, cleaning, technical visits, purchase of articles, etc.
The amount raised was used for the purchase of furniture, household appliances, hygiene items, food, clothing, among others.

It is important to highlight that since the inauguration of the project, New Acropolis’ own volunteers have been in charge of acquiring the necessary items and goods and distributing them to the correct recipients. The website of the Project ‘Tá na Mão: uniting hands and hearts’ (https://app.ajudersnovaacropole.com) is also being developed in order to continue providing assistance to the population in need, continuously and in the long term.
It is worth mentioning that the project continues and we are still collecting donations to help 54 more families at the moment.
In this year 2024, at the end of April, Brazil and the whole world were surprised by climatic events that caused the biggest flood in the Guaíba river basin, followed by floods and landslides, causing a major social-environmental disaster in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, affecting the whole country.
Some 471 municipalities in Rio Grande do Sul were affected in some way by the storms, equivalent to almost 95% of the state’s 497 cities. More than 876,000 people in 420.1 thousand homes were directly affected by floods and landslides. A state of calamity or emergency was declared in 418 municipalities.
Throughout the period of the last few months, between May and July 2024, New Acropolis all over Brazil joined together in different forms of voluntary action. A fundraising campaign was carried out through Pix and PayPal, aimed first at helping in the processes of rescuing people and animals, setting up shelters to assist affected families, followed by the Project ‘Tá Na Mão’: uniting hands and hearts’ and by the Project “Solidarity Cleaning”, both carried out by Acropolitan volunteers who were on the front line of helping the state.
Saturday 11 May saw the inauguration of the ‘Tá Na Mão’ Project, which aims to rescue the dignity of families who lost everything in the floods in Rio Grande do Sul. To this end, New Acropolis volunteers went to the most difficult to access and most affected communities to identify and map the real and immediate difficulties of the families. Subsequently, various items such as furniture, household appliances, clothing, hygiene materials, among others, were purchased and donated.
