One of the events dedicated to Mother Earth Day and carried out in collaboration with the University of Bucharest and the Botanical Garden, was entitled “Geological History of the Earth”. During the event, researchers in the field of geology from the University of Bucharest presented to the public aspects of the distant past of our planet and the methods of studying the rocks and the fossils from those ancient times. Interesting information was presented about the ages of rocks and their dating method, about how can we reconstruct the way of life of primitive people by studying the remains of ancient mollusks, fish and turtles. Another subject was the world of Neolithic hazards and how these events from thousands of years ago still affects us today. There was also a hands-on demonstration of using modern technology to uncover the earth’s secrets, using drones and equipment of latest generation.
