Celebration of World Philosophy Day in Belgrade (Serbia)
World Philosophy Day was celebrated with a two-day program of activities under the motto ’Unity through Diversity’, with participation from a large number of volunteers.
On the Day itself, there was a lecture and discussion ’Why do we need philosophy today?’ opening space for an exchange of experiences about the role of philosophy in the lives of individuals as well as in society as a whole.
In the second lecture, ’Buddha and the Stoics: two paths – one goal’, the lecturers comparatively presented some of the key themes of Buddhist and Stoic thought. A workshop then invited the audience to explore the common ideas among these traditions by reflecting on selected quotes.
In this way, by spending time and learning together, volunteers and guests discovered ways to build a better man and a better world.
