Clean up walking, ecological volunteering: exploring philosophy through voluntary action (Zaragoza, Spain)
This event took place in the Miralbueno neighbourhood, where participants joined together in a clean-up to take care of Mother Earth.
Conscience, solidarity and civic-mindedness in action
Guided by the spirit of great thoughts, such as Mahatma Gandhi’s phrase: ‘The Earth provides enough to satisfy the needs of every man, but not the greed of every man’, the volunteers dedicated the day to creating a cleaner and healthier environment. This activity aimed to raise awareness of the importance of every gesture in caring for our environment and to strengthen solidarity and civic-mindedness in our community.
Also inspired by Margaret Mead’s words, ‘Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it is the only thing that ever has’, the ‘Clean Up Walk’ action showed how the philosophical principles of responsibility and love for nature are translated into concrete actions.
At the end, Jane Goodall’s message was shared, reminding us that ‘What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make’. With each bag of waste collected, the volunteers demonstrated that small actions can have a big impact on the preservation of nature.
