Lecture: Don’t forget to live (Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina)

Cultural Activities

In the headquarters of the New Acropolis, a lecture was held on the topic “Don’t Forget to Live” inspired by the book of the same name by Pierre Hadot.

The lecture talked about the daily rush, the pitfalls of routine, and what is the best way to stop and stay in the present moment. Those present had the opportunity to try philosophical exercises inspired by the Stoics, Socrates, Goethe and Hadot.

They discussed the importance of time as the only good that cannot be recovered, with reference to the focus on the present moment, and the importance of looking at things and circumstances “from above”. At the lecture, two slogans inspired by Goethe and Horace (“Memento vivere” and “Carpe diem”) were highlighted.

“It’s not that life is short, but that we waste it so much. Between regrets about the past and anxiety about the future, we let the present slip away quietly.” L.A. Seneca
