“Matrix – Plato’s Allegory of the Cave” (Liberec, Czech Republic)

World Philosophy Day

New Acropolis Liberec organized a short play called “Matrix – Plato’s Allegory of the Cave” as a part of the World Philosophy Day celebrations. As the name suggests it combines the famous film with the Plato’s allegory that can be found in his work “Republic”. While it might seem farfetched at first sight the two share many themes. The resulting story tells us about manipulation, pain, courage and the victory of the free will. Both actors and audience were engulfed by the story and also inspired to use the lessons the story told in their everyday lives.
