Mending the Cracks: Workshop. “Finds Beauty in Imperfection” (Rishon LeZion, Israel)
A New Acropolis workshop titled “To Mend the Cracks” guided participants on a profound philosophical journey inspired by the ancient Japanese art of Kintsugi. The workshop transcended a simple craft class, offering a powerful framework for self-reflection and renewal by exploring the beauty and strength found in imperfection.
The session was divided into two distinct phases. The first, “the break,” encouraged participants to engage in a philosophical process of observing what is broken in their lives and recognize the need to actively shatter old patterns to initiate positive change. This stage included an intuitive writing exercise, where attendees reflected on which parts of themselves they wished to rebuild and engaged in an inner dialogue to prepare for the process of healing.
The second phase, “the mending,” focused on the practical and introspective act of repair. Guided by the principle of “Know Thyself,” the group explored internal reactions such as patience and self-awareness, discussing different approaches to healing. The workshop ultimately demonstrated that our flaws and scars, when acknowledged and repaired with intention, do not diminish us but can be transformed into something beautiful, resilient, and uniquely our own.
