New Acropolis Israel: Creating Safe Spaces During Crisis (Israel)
In response to the current emergency situation, New Acropolis volunteers in Israel have mobilized to support their community through two vital initiatives. The first focuses on transforming public shelters in areas where residential safe rooms are limited, making these spaces more livable for temporary residents seeking protection so that they can spend time there during the sirens and spend the night if necessary.
Volunteers have thoroughly cleaned and organized 7 big public shelters, equipping them with essential items through member donations, including chairs, children’s toys, everything so they could drink tea, and comfort items. The team also prepared homemade cakes, bringing warmth to these emergency spaces. Simultaneously, members have launched a digital support program, helping elderly residents install Zoom on their computers to access online support groups, breathing exercises, and yoga sessions to get through difficult times.
These practical initiatives reflect New Acropolis’s commitment to transforming philosophical values into meaningful community action, providing both physical safety and emotional support during challenging times.
