Philosophy in the Street (Alicante, Spain)

Cultural Activities

Within the framework of the Active Philosophy week, which aims to bring philosophy closer to those who still don’t know it or who see it as something theoretical and not very practical. We programmed an activity in the street that consisted of asking questions, as is typical of philosophy.

We asked anyone walking down the street, ‘What does love mean to you? What does freedom mean to you?

And the same with friendship and happiness. Something very commonplace, present in everyone’s life, but which we don’t always stop to reflect on. Things were getting lively and many people, especially young people, stopped to think about their answer. Because it would remain forever engraved on that cork board. At the end of the activity, the four boards were full of very personal definitions of love, freedom, happiness and friendship. In return, the people who wrote down their answer got a sentence written by a philosopher, a thinker, a writer… that dealt with that topic.

It was a really enriching exchange.
