Second National Volunteer Olympic Games (Israel)
The New Acropolis philosophical school in Israel recently hosted its Second National Volunteer Olympic Games, bringing together about 200 volunteer-athletes from six different branches across the country for a weekend dedicated to sports, philosophy, and community spirit.
The event started with a moving Opening Ceremony, highlighted by the symbolic lighting of the Olympic Flame, setting an immediate tone of inspiration and noble aspiration. The guiding principle for the entire event was to embody the spirit of self-transcendence, encouraging every participant to strive for personal best and experience the true meaning of victory over self. This focus created an atmosphere of brotherhood and shared purpose among all attendees.
The athletic program was comprehensive and designed to challenge both body and mind:
- Running competitions: Including 10 km, 1 km, and 400 m races.
- Archery and Shot Put.
- Team and Mind Sports: Volleyball, Table Tennis, Chess and Go.
In the evening, the energy shifted to cultural expression at an enriching Arts Evening featuring theatrical performances, dances, poetry, and songs.
The Olympics drew around 200 volunteer-athletes, all of whom experienced the powerful blend of physical challenge and philosophical unity. Participants confirmed that the event reinforced the idea that competition, when guided by the spirit of overcoming one’s own limits, serves as a profound tool for personal growth and collective action. The success of the Second National Volunteer Olympic Games demonstrated the power of philosophy and shared human experience to foster brotherhood and inspire collective action toward a better future.

I am from Austria and all I hear about Israel in the News is about war. It is so important to hear about other things too.
