Tertulia: the Huitoto, the jaguar and the fire (Medellín Sur, Colombia)

Cultural Activities

The headquarters of New Acropolis South in Medellín was filled with magic, tradition and symbolism with the Tertulia ‘The Huitoto, the Jaguar and Fire’. The event brought together a diverse group of attendees interested in exploring the rich cultural heritage of the Huitoto, a native people of the Amazon, and their mythological relationship with two great symbols: the jaguar and fire.

From 7:00 p.m., we began a journey into the heart of the Huitoto cosmovision, understanding how these elements are more than simple figures; they represent strength, transformation and the deep connection between humanity and the natural environment. Through stories and dynamics, we learned about fire as a bearer of light and the jaguar as a guide to knowledge, exploring their roles in rituals, oral stories and everyday practices.

The atmosphere was steeped in symbolic imagination. With each story and reflection, the language of symbols came alive, reminding us that these myths are not only narratives of the past, but living teachings that invite us to see the world with renewed eyes.
