Together for nature – New Acropolis cleans up the Bisamberg (Vienna, Austria)

Mother Earth Day

New Acropolis Vienna held a field clean-up on the occasion of Earth Day.

A group of members took part in this campaign equipped with bin bags, gloves and tongs, the group started at the car park of the ‘Gasthaus zur Gamshöhe’, idyllically situated on the Bisamberg plateau. The day three-hour campaign took them along marked hiking and walking trails. Over a distance of around 5.5 kilometres, the participants collected small and very small items of waste – with considerable success.

In almost perfect weather and in a cheerful atmosphere, there was also room for conversation, which allowed many to get to know each other better. A special moment was the stopover at the monument to the German poet Joseph von Eichendorff. A poem was recited there – a poetic gesture in the midst of nature.

The action was also appreciated by passers-by: numerous walkers and hikers thanked the group for their efforts along the way.

The most unusual find of the day was an old, tattered plastic tent that had probably been waiting to be disposed of off the path for years.

At the end of the day, the group brought the event to a close on the Elisabethhöhe – with a view of the northern Danube in the light of the sunset and a snack together.
