Visit to the Ethnological Museum of Barcelona (Sabadell, Spain)
In the heart of Barcelona, the Museum of Ethnology and World Cultures is located in Montcada Street, a centre for the study, conservation and dissemination of global cultural diversity. A place to understand and respect the different traditions and customs of other peoples from all over the world.
The philosophy school New Acropolis of Sabadell, prepared this cultural outing for the students and volunteers of this association, and it was truly a journey through the cultural diversity of the world.
The museum has more than a thousand objects representing everyday life, popular beliefs, customs and crafts from different civilisations: ritual masks from Africa, textiles from Latin America, agricultural tools from Asia or artistic pieces from Oceania. All of this is divided into rooms so that visitors can immerse themselves in the rich legacy of the indigenous peoples and traditional communities.
This museum is a cultural reference to explore traditions, customs and lifestyles of different cultures. It has such a collection of ethnographic objects that allowed us to see the richness of these civilisations and to understand the diverse cultures of our society.
We are already thinking about when we can come back! Really, one morning is not enough to visit the entire collection on display. It turned out to be a highly recommendable visit, to complement the Symbolism of Civilisations subject in the syllabus of our philosophy school.
