Interview with Gabriel Paredes by Carmen Imbert on Z101: reflections on World Philosophy Day (Dominican Republic)
On 20 November, in commemoration of World Philosophy Day, broadcaster Carmen Imbert interviewed the Director of New Acropolis Dominican Republic, Mr Gabriel Paredes, on the radio programme ‘Esperando al Gobierno’ (Waiting for the Government) on Z101 radio station, in a special broadcast dedicated to philosophical questioning and civic engagement. The radio talk, broadcast via digital platforms, sought to create a space for reflection to highlight the value of critical, ethical and reflective thinking in times of crisis. Paredes and Imbert engaged in dialogue with the intention of taking philosophy beyond the academic halls and bringing it closer to ordinary citizens as a tool for social awareness.
Philosophy as praxis: Another key point was the conception of philosophy as a living practice: as a means to question, raise awareness, promote hope, and motivate transformative actions.
