World Philosophy Day (Bucharest, Romania)
On the occasion of World Philosophy Day, New Acropolis Bucharest organized four events.
The lecture “Philosophy and the Spirit of Victory” focused on how important it is to preserve the spirit of victory in order to overcome life’s obstacles, our own limitations, and to transform difficult circumstances into opportunities for inner growth. In the heart of a heroic human being, the spirit of victory can be born.
The theatrical sketch “The School of Philosophy” was dedicated to the great philosopher Plato and the Platonic Academy. The sketch illustrated why the cultivation of virtues is fundamental to human education and development. Plato teaches two young people of our time about the essence of the soul and how a person can come to lead a better, more harmonious life under the guidance of reason.
The conference “Philosophy, Closely Linked to Art, Science, Sociopolitics, and Religion” showed that the foundation of culture, education, and human development rests on the following archetypal values: art must reflect beauty, politics—justice, science—truth, and religion—goodness. Philosophy is above all a way of life, and if the philosopher awakens within people, then art, science, sociopolitics, and religion will flourish.
The conference “Truth, Illusion, and Reality at the Days of Philosophy” touched on concepts such as dignity and the value of inner life. There are multiple levels of reality, and the reality in which we usually live is the one accessible through the senses. The Truth—Aletheia—can be understood as a form of unveiling, while illusion (ori ental Maya) means manifestation or appearance.
