Montjüic mountain clean-up for World Earth Day (Barcelona, Spain)
In commemoration of World Mother Earth Day, volunteers from New Acropolis Barcelona carried out a waste collection activity in the Montjüic area closest to the Poble Sec neighbourhood of Barcelona.
This year’s Earth Day 2024, in its 54th edition, has the theme ‘Planet versus plastics’, so before the clean-up, volunteers were given recommendations on how to contribute to the reduction of plastic consumption in our homes.
After the explanation, a selective collection of waste was carried out in the park, separating it according to the type of waste and then depositing it in the corresponding containers.
To conclude the activity, a workshop was held to connect with nature through chi kung exercises and philosophical reflections on the relationship between human beings and their natural environment and Mother Earth.
Through this activity, we want to contribute to raising awareness of the importance of our planet and the conservation of its ecosystems. In addition, we seek to raise awareness of the responsibility of humans to promote harmony with nature.
