Beauty that gives wings: a look at Plato’s Phaedrus (Panama)
As part of our philosophical discussions, we held the event “Beauty That Gives Wings: A Look at Plato’s Phaedrus,” where we explored the fundamental role beauty plays in the elevation of humankind. Inspired by the teachings of the Greek philosopher, we discussed how beauty propels us to transcend the mundane, connecting us with the noblest and most luminous aspects of our being. Plato affirmed that beauty awakens our wings, carrying us toward the divine and reminding us that to love beauty is, in reality, to love that which transcends us.
The activity fostered an enriching dialogue, where participants recognized the enduring relevance of these ideas in contemporary life. From personal experiences to reflections on the world today, it was emphasized that beauty continues to be a bridge to the sacred, a force capable of inspiring human beings to seek truth, goodness, and unity with the universe. It was an encounter that combined philosophy, reflection, and connection, reaffirming the power of classical thought to illuminate our lives.
