From the USA to the community of Oriximiná-PA: philosophy arrives to give answers (Brasil)

Cultural Activities

Philosophy is a calling of the soul. And where there is a thirst for meaning and transformation, there too is New Acropolis, with its proposal for human formation through the comparative study of philosophy, culture, and volunteering. Whether in large urban centers of the United States or in Amazonian communities of Brazil, the impulse is the same: to cultivate better human beings for a better world.

Expansion in the United States

New Acropolis Brazil North continues to expand its international presence with a growing presence in the United States. Currently, the institution is present in states such as Texas, Florida, and New York, consolidating its mission to promote philosophy as a way of life. Activities are led by teachers such as Lúcia Helena Galvão, Isabella Arruda, Michele, and Oscar, who have been directly contributing to the training of new students and to the structuring of local units.

Approximately 100 students currently participate in blended learning classes in Portuguese, with in-person meetings held in Florida and New York. New Acropolis has also started a class taught in English, composed of 15 students, expanding access to practical philosophy to audiences of different linguistic and cultural backgrounds.

This expansion has been possible thanks to the support of local institutions that have provided their spaces for in-person activities. The voluntary engagement of the students themselves has been fundamental to the continuity and strengthening of the work carried out.

Philosophy in the Amazon: Oriximiná (PA)

In the heart of the Amazon, the city of Oriximiná, in Pará, welcomed the seed of classical philosophy. Inspired by a course from New Acropolis in Belém, Mayor José William brought to his community the lecture How to Overcome Your Internal Limits, with
Professor Lúcia Helena Galvão — gathering more than a thousand people.

The enthusiasm paved the way for the creation of a blended learning class; classes are broadcast weekly at a municipal school and, once a month, students meet in person to experience the philosophy collectively and practically.

From New York to Oriximiná, philosophy reveals its universal vocation: to bring human beings closer to their essence and to awaken, wherever they may be, the courage to be better.
