Lecture “Erich Fromm – Man and the Sane Society” (Croatia)

Cultural Activities

New Acropolis in Osijek organized a lecture entitled “Erich Fromm – Man and the Sane Society” at the Osijek Cultural Center.

The audience had the opportunity to learn about the work of the renowned psychologist and humanistic philosopher Erich Fromm, especially on the relationship between the individual and society.

Fromm invites us to ask ourselves: How healthy is the society in which we live? Has material progress brought a better quality of life, or only more emptiness and dissatisfaction?

He also points to the causes and consequences of many of today’s problems – such as feelings of emptiness, dissatisfaction, fear, lack of responsibility, conflicts, and mutual misunderstandings – and outlines a path toward solutions through the cultivation of enduring human values such as selflessness, generosity, and the art of living together.

“A healthy society is not one that demands adaptation from the individual, but one that adapts to true human needs.” (Erich Fromm)
