Evening Dedicated to the Arts (London, UK)

Day of Arts

On the evening of 20th June, students and teachers at New Acropolis School of Philosophy in London celebrated the Day of Arts with an evening of artistic contributions, ranging from singing and piano pieces to presentations of artworks, poetry recitals and storytelling.

The aim of the evening was to initiate a process of bringing the arts back into everyday life, based on the understanding that the artistic impulse has always been central to human existence, and that art can also be applied to apparently mundane activities as well as those we normally think of as ‘art’.  It is about doing everything with skill and an aspiration towards beauty and perfection.

Taking part in this event made everyone aware not only of the uplifting effects of the arts but also their power to bring people together in a spirit of fraternity beyond differences.
