To celebrate International Day of Arts, volunteers from New Acropolis in Milan, with the special participation of volunteers from the city of Pescara, alongside citizens registered on the city’s volunteering portal and students from the PASS project (Solidarity Study Support Project), dedicated the morning to a special initiative of the “CosìMiPiace” project along the Darsena.

Led by artist Gregorio Mancino, aka Greg, this participatory street art initiative transformed around 200 square metres of New Jersey road barriers into large, colourful canvases designed to reflect the creativity and joy of Milan’s iconic ‘Navigli’ district.

The participation of the Pescara delegation marked an important moment of sharing, strengthening relations between different branches of New Acropolis in Italy. 

The decorations on the barriers offer a dual visual journey: on one side, they pay tribute to the genius of Leonardo da Vinci; on the other, they celebrate neighbourhood life through portraits of nearby market stalls and activities, including a florist, a bicycle repair shop, a butcher, and a café.

Sponsored by Municipality 6 of the City of Milan and technically supported by Sikkens Italia, the initiative received a visit from City Councillor Marco Granelli, who expressed his appreciation for the project’s value.

This heartfelt event confirmed that the pursuit of beauty is an effective way to rehabilitate public spaces, foster social cohesion, and promote active citizenship.
