The Odyssey – The Journey and the Return to Ithaca (Tirana, Albania)
New Acropolis in Tirana organized a conference dedicated to Homer’s “Odyssey”, highlighting Odysseus’ extraordinary journey to Ithaca and one of the most important works of classical literature.
The event explored myth, Homer, and the “Iliad”, as well as the trials and challenges faced by the hero. The discussion focused on his adventures with the Lotus-Eaters, Polyphemus, the Laestrygonians, Circe, followed by further trials involving Hades, the Sirens, Calypso and finally his return to Ithaca.
Through these episodes, the conference explored themes of courage, resilience, loyalty, wisdom, and the desire to return home. Ithaca was presented not only as a destination, but also as a symbol of identity, belonging, and purpose.
The conference also included practical activities, creating an interactive space for reflection and critical thinking about the work.
