‘Art and psychology. Images for self-discovery’ 2nd Edition (Braga, Portugal)
Continuing the collaboration between the Municipality of Braga and New Acropolis with the project “Philosophy at the Museum”, a philosophical and cultural initiative, which this time took
place at the “Palácio dos Biscaínhos”.
The refinement of the building coincided with the chosen theme “Art and psychology. Images for self discovery.” Professor Jose Carlos Fernandez, writer and director of New Acropolis
Portugal, showed us eight great art pieces to reflect upon the capacity of art to transmit profound knowledge and internal realities about the human being, which allows us to get to know ourselves better.
“The Last Supper” by Leonardo Da Vinci; the “Birth of Venus” by Botticelli, “The Spinners” by Velasquez, “The Disrobing of Christ” by El Greco, “The Villa of Mysteries”, Pompeii, “Jacob’s Dream” by William Blake; “The Pectoral of Ahmose”, and finally “The Messenger” by Akiane, built a bridge which connected us to the mystery of nature, of which we are a part.
We are grateful to the Municipality of Braga and the Biscainhos Museum for supporting our “Philosophy at the Museum” project.
