New Acropolis supports recovery of World Heritage Site in São Luís (MA, Brazil)
The New Acropolis International Organization participated in the opening ceremony of the 2nd edition of the Canteiro School Program, in São Luís (MA), offering a lecture on the importance of Ethics and its relationship with everyday life for more than 60 young people and guests who were present in the inaugural class of the project, in January.
The ‘Canteiro School’ is a Rehabilitation program for the Historic Center of São Luís (MA), declared a World Heritage Site by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco), which trains labor for civil construction, especially young people in situations of social vulnerability.
To bring Philosophy closer to people is to make it an important instrument for the development of human virtues and potential. Associated with the technical development proposed by the program, it makes the students have a more complete formation from the point of view of the human being, explains the director of New Acropolis São Luís, Isabela Gontijo.
“We seek to add a vision that all the work we do serving an Ideal of Good, Unity, Beauty transforms ourselves. What we do outside is a reflection of what we cultivate within ourselves and the work that these young people do is a source of great pride for the entire city”, said director Isabela Gontijo, who is an architect and has been working on construction sites since 2000.
