Lecture on Dignity of Man on World Philosophy Day (Zagreb, Croatia)

World Philosophy Day

Marking World Philosophy Day, New Acropolis in Zagreb held a lecture entitled “Dignity of Man”.
Direct motive for holding this particular lecture was 70-th anniversary of United Nation’s Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which in Article 1 states: All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood.
The lecture emphasized that our dignity depends primarily on ourselves, no matter the circumstances and specificities of today’s world. Our dignity may arise solely from that for which we fight for within ourselves, i.e. from fundamental values that form the basis of our lives.
