Volunteering: why? (Montreal, Canada)
Lecture presented by New Acropolis on the meaning and purpose of volunteering in the 21st century. Today’s world is changing rapidly and we face many economic, social and environmental collective challenges. We all agree that our mindsets must adapt to these new challenges to be less passive and become actors of change. Many citizens denounce governments’ inaction and advocate for prompt accountability of problems that directly affect us rather than waiting for politicians to take action.
Work and effort are necessary for self-realization and service to the community so that human beings stop wanting ephemeral benefits and temporary rewards such as money or power to the detriment of other realms and nature. Becoming a committed citizen for a better world is the challenge New Acropolis has been taking on for 60 years in more than 60 countries around the world.
