“World Bee Day” was adopted by the United Nations following a proposal made by the Slovenian Beekeepers’ Association in 2014. As creators of the “Melissa Garden Bee Sanctuary”, New Acropolis joined in the celebrations of this event for the third time this year with an online event due to Covid-19.

In an online talk given by Sabine Leitner, the speaker provided fascinating details about the hidden life of bees and their immensely important role in nature and in relation to human existence. The speaker shared video footage of the two beehives currently at our Melissa Bee Sanctuary, inspiring others to become interested in bees and encouraging them to take up beekeeping. The event was well attended and was followed by a lively question and answer session at the end.
