StreetArt project «Bright space for elderly people» (Mykolaiv, Ukraine)

Artistic Activities, Social Volunteering

In autumn 2020 volunteers of «New Acropolis» in Mykolaiv initiated a project «Bright space for elderly people». The purpose of the project is to paint the walls of the Geriatric House of Mercy named after St. Nicholas in Street Art style and create a cosy space for meeting and rest of people who live there.
Near nicely pained walls elderly people can meet with friends and relatives or just sit alone with a cup of hot tea outdoors.
The bright walls with pictures was the dream of the director of the institution Vladimir Vlasov as well as volunteers of «New Acropolis» who actively supported the project. This project is opened to everyone, for professional artists and Mykolaiv citizens who are ready to support the initiative. All painting works
are supervised by a professional artist – a volunteer of «New Acropolis».
It is impossible to finish all the work in one visit, so several visits are planned. There will be nice pictures, for example a painting of a couple drinking tea near the window. Also volunteers repainted old ornaments and the logo of the Geriatric House of Mercy which were drawn before.
Residents of the House watched the creative process. It was an interesting event for them bringing lots of positive emotions and good mood!
