How to expand our freedom – philo-chat (Veszprém, Hungary)

Cultural Activities

New Acropolis Hungary opened a new centre in the city of Veszprém, where the first programme was a philosophical discussion on inner freedom, coupled with self-awareness exercises.

First, on the advice of a Stoic philosopher Epictetus, the participants took stock of the things in life that are in our control and those that are not. The conversation then turned to how distinguishing between these two can help us to become less dependent on external circumstances. Then the participants thought about what internal constraints might prevent us from being free, and finally they talked about the way to freedom and the methods of overcoming internal constraints. In addition to the exercises, the evening was also enriched by poems in order to inspire intuition in the pursuit of freedom.
