Art, Coexistence and Transformation (Pasto, Colombia)
New Acropolis Colombia, in partnership with the Pasto City Council and the Chapal community, painted a number of murals at the Enrique Jensen Educational Institution. Under the slogan ‘My land: a place for meeting, culture and art, so that we can all live together in harmony’, this initiative promotes values that strengthen harmonious coexistence and preserve regional identity. The director of New Acropolis Colombia, Esperanza Joves, highlighted the ability of human beings to transform their environment and learn to live in harmony with each other, and emphasized the crucial importance of volunteering in solving community challenges. The process included cleaning and preparing the area, as well as involving the community in the creation of the mural, in order to strengthen the sense of belonging and connection.
“We strongly believe in the capacity of human beings to transform themselves and their environment, by promoting ways of improving coexistence and contributing to the progress of society. Volunteering is a valuable alternative for addressing community issues. This is why we have involved the Community Action Boards in these projects, knowing that their impact will be sustainable in the long term”. Esperanza Joves
