Exhibition and Competition of “The Art of Divine Leisure” (Brazil)

Artistic Activities

Taking advantage of the break from regular classes at the end of the year, teachers and students of New Acropolis organised an Exhibition and Competition on The Art of Divine Leisure, inspired by Plato’s teaching on ‘free time’ as an opportunity for the development of the arts and philosophy.

Students were encouraged to cultivate the reading of classics, as well as the practice of various artistic expressions such as music, poetry, painting and drawing, among others, which were presented at an evening event at the start of the new term.

The evening began with a lecture on the theme of Divine Leisure, followed by musical performances such as Reverie, by Schumann, and the Farewell Waltz, by Chopin. There were also poetry receitals and an exhibition of photographs from the competition that selected three winners in each category. At the end, guests were invitied to join in the traditional happy hour at Café Sofia.
