Volunteers from the New Acropolis International Organization join forces with professionals from the Health Department of Cocalzinho de Goiás to help the community.

The community of Girassol, district of the municipality of Cocalzinho de Goiás, received a health care effort on August 19th, based on the integrated action of professionals from the municipality’s Health Department and volunteers from the headquarters of the New Acropolis International Organization and Goiás and the Federal District.

Located 100 km from Brasília and around 150 km from Goiânia, the community of Girassol received volunteers from the medical, dental, social assistance and environmental areas. 248 healthcare services were provided.

This is the second Cocalzinho community that the volunteers are working in. The first took place in the Baixa do Verde community, in the same municipality. The Active Ecology secretariat of New Acropolis, Giane Ribeiro, comments on the satisfaction of serving the communities. “We hope to contribute our best,” she said.

Janaína Cortes da Silva, resident of the Girassol community, underwent two minor surgeries, one of which was a protrusion on her eyelid that was making it difficult to see.

The person who was also treated and had her pain relieved was Evanildes Bertoldo Satélite, 52 years old, resident of the Jurubeba community. “I arrived with pain in my knee, ankle and pelvis.
For the first time I had acupuncture and I feel much better. I appreciate the opportunity,” she said.

The municipal health secretary of Cocalzinho de Goiás, Gilmar José de Meneses, thanked the 54 volunteers from New Acropolis for their participation. “We thank you, on behalf of Mayor Alessandro and the entire team, for the partnership and for bringing valuable professionals to our municipality to serve our population. Gratitude to everyone,” he said.
