Knitting for Solidarity (Coimbra, Portugal)

Social Volunteering

In our civilised world, communication is often lacking, precisely in the age of communication; empathy is lacking, precisely in the age of the welfare state; and there is a lack of care and attention for children, who not only need it, but are also our future.

With the aim of providing solutions for these shortcomings, New Acropolis Coimbra, through the volunteer project “Knitting for Solidarity”, delivered clothes for babies and children to the association Casa da Mãe (The Mother’s House).

This association is part of the Social Development Foundation of the District of Coimbra. The clothes were made in the course of several sessions by the project’s volunteers.
