Mangrove Clean Up Drive (Mumbai, India)

Ecological Volunteering

Volunteers cleaned up the Mangrove habitat in the Colaba area, Mumbai, located near the New Acropolis centre in the city. The clean-up was, in many ways, an attempt to restore some balance inadvertently caused by human activity and help this ecosystem which is so important to our coastal environment.

The Mangroves are fascinating as they have adapted to survive in some of the harshest environments and yet provide so much to an entire ecosystem of birds, fish and animals that have come to depend on them.

In just 3 hours, over 1200 kg. of garbage was removed, reiterating the thoughts from Margaret Mead “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed individuals can change the world. In fact, it’s the only thing that ever has”.
